Looking at old ideas with new eyes.

In february I have been visiting an old friend, the beautiful Oseberg Viking ship. Here in the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo.

Following the building of the copy they made in Tønsberg some years ago, named Saga Oseberg, from the start

until it was finished

I have collected quite a lot of inspirational photos and other materials, and now I want to look at it all with new eyes. I made some new stamps,

collected some of my old stampa as well, printed them randomly on a large sheet of paper, cut it and made myself another little sketchbook:

Now as we enter March I will continue working with my Viking heritage, but I have some other plans as well.

Adventurer

I just want to show you my last challenge for Latitudequilts. Our theme was Make your Mark, and my quilt is called Adventurer. It is based on the Viking ship Oseberg, and the copy Saga Oseberg they made in Tonsberg. I love this ship, and the image is based on one of Saga Oseberg at sea, with wind i her sails. The yellow quilted ship in the background is from graffiti carvings found on the old ship. Enjoy:

Jeg ønsker bare å vise min siste utfordring for Latitudequilts. Vårt tema var Make your Mark, og min quilt heter Eventyrer.

Lately, I’ve been working with monoprinting, and my favorite so far is this, of my favorite Viking ship Saga Oseberg, an exact copy of the Oseberg ship, newly built in Tonsberg.

I det siste har jeg arbeidet med monoprinting, og min favoritt så langt er dette, av mitt favoritt-vikingeskip Saga Oseberg, kopien av Osebergskipet som de har bygget i Tønsberg.

Welcome

I love to make things. I like knitting in the evenings, and tending my garden. I love to work with fibres, to colour and shape things. I find great inspiration in older Japanese design, the art of Hiroshige and Hokusai being my favourites. I also dabble a bit with bookmaking, binding my own sketchbooks to play in and fill with my research, as well as making textile books.

The pink one dates from my grandmothers garden, about 90 years ago and the filled dark red my father planted in our garden in the 1960s. They have travelled with me from one garden to the next and are now in my front garden in Tønsberg. The red with yellow center I bought a few years ago. #flowers #peony #garden #history #inspiration #ghuseboe #gretahusebo
